Internal insulation failures can cause significant harm to dry transformers. If internal failures occur, the charging and discharging inside the dry transformer can cause damage to the body. Additionally, excessive pressure can damage the small box. Apart from internal causes, external short circuits of the dry transformer should be minimized. Oil-immersed transformers placed outdoors are susceptible to lightning. Dry transformers rely on cooling and temperature control. In high temperatures, dry transformers automatically shut down due to their automatic protection functions.
Internal moisture: During the operation of distribution dry transformers, the sealing part of the oil tank becomes brittle, leading to the intrusion of internal moisture and degradation of insulation, resulting in damage to the electromagnetic coils of the distribution dry transformer.
Pollution of the outer cover can cause flashovers on the outer cover. Areas affected by dust pollution are prone to contamination of the cover. Because stains absorb moisture, they can not only increase conductivity and promote surface charging and discharging but may also increase leakage current, leading to damage. This situation is very common in cities, especially in areas with heavy traffic. Flashovers on the surface of the outer cover often cause isolation switches to trip, severely damaging the dry transformer.
Long-term overload: Long-term overload causes the temperature of distribution dry transformers to rise, leading to increased water temperature, oil deterioration, and reduced insulation, which promotes the brittleness of insulation between the electromagnetic coils and iron cores, reducing their lifespan and leading to the burning of distribution dry transformers.
Low voltage side short circuit: During operation, if the low voltage side of the distribution dry transformer suddenly short circuits, it generates short circuit capacity, causing the dry transformer to be damaged in a very short time.
